You will support our Public Affairs team in monitoring and analyzing EU-level policy and regulatory developments relevant to the construction and building materials sector.

At our Brussels-based EU Office, we represent Heidelberg Materials in the European policy arena, focusing on the sustainable transformation of our industry.
We are currently offering a traineeship opportunity (minimum 6 months) for a motivated and dynamic candidate to join our team as of September 2025.
STUDENT TRAINEESHIP
EU PUBLIC AFFAIRS
2 to 2,5 days/week
Your tasks & responsibilities:
You will support our Public Affairs team in monitoring and analyzing EU-level policy and regulatory developments relevant to the construction and building materials sector;
You will conduct background research and contribute to the preparation of briefings, position papers, internal presentations and high-level events;
You will also help organize internal and external meetings, events, and advocacy activities;
You will assist with internal coordination across company departments;
You will join external meetings with policymakers, associations, think tanks, NGOs, and industry partners;
You will have the opportunity to gain insight into key EU policy areas including climate, energy, industrial strategy, circular economy, and sustainable finance.
Job requirements
Your profile:
You have an academic background in political science, EU studies, law, environmental or sustainability studies, economics, communications, or a related field.
You demonstrate a strong interest in European politics, industry and climate policy, and sustainability;
You speak and write fluently in English (working language); knowledge of other EU languages will be an asset;
You have solid research and analytical skills, a strong attention to detail and the ability to summarize complex information clearly;
You work with a proactive attitude, in a collaborative spirit, and you excel in organization;
You are proficient with the Microsoft Office package (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook);
A previous experience in a political, corporate, or institutional environment will be considered as an advantage.
