Heidelberg Materials Benelux is currently looking for a

LEGAL COUNSEL

to join the team at our headquarters located in Braine-l'Alleud.


Your tasks & responsibilities:

Employment Law and H&S:

  • You will be the Point of contact for HR, H&S and Digital Departments.
  • You will Provide support on Legal matters related to Employment Law, by preparing legal reports and assessments, contracts and/or other legal documents, ensuring compliance with relevant law and internal processes and collaborating in different projects providing accurate legal advice.
  • Proactively follow up and analyze legislation impacting the business and changes in law in, filing and communicating relevant information to adequate stakeholders and even providing training, and action plans previously agreed with business.
  • Follow up and control litigation managed by external lawyers ensuring appropriate defense of company’s interests.
  • Provide support on Legal matters related to H&S, by preparing legal reports and assessments, contracts and/or other legal documents, ensuring compliance with relevant law and internal processes and collaborating in different projects providing accurate legal advice.

Compliance GDPR:

  • You will be the point of contact for legal questions/project related to GDPR in Belgium.
  • Checking and providing recommendations to people with regard to GDPR laws.
  • Arranging and/or monitoring compliance activities, guidelines, policies and trainings.
  • Organizing legal defense against accusations of respective infringements.
  • Provide trainings and e-learning courses which are assigned to employees on a regular basis and update presentation to EXCO.
  • To develop and/or adjusts policies and guidance, to communicate, to upload in digital tools, to follow up implementation.
  • Draft, negotiate and implement adequate documents ensuring compliance with rules.
  • Regular reporting to Group and BeNe EXCO on GDPR Compliance legal matters using the existing tools and preparing presentations.
  • Utilizing data analytics to assess performance, identify trends, and generate insights that can guide strategic decisions within the legal department.

Digital, IT Law and Contracts:

  • Point of contact for any legal questions related to our Digital Department and contact to Group Legal responsibles of the matter.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating of contracts in the field of IT law and applicable areas of law related to Procurement.
  • The development of software and related apps.
  • Digitalization projects (incl. data transfer, except personal data) and implementation of new digital business models.
  • Coordination of rollouts of digitalization projects from a legal perspective.
  • Prepare adequate templates for the more frequent relevant types, roll-out, follow up use, revision, digital tools to be more efficient.

Legislaton update:

  • To organize systeme to follow up legislation impacting the business and changes in law in, filing and communication of relevant information.
  • If necessary, prepare and agree with relevant Lawyers and business on implementation action plans.

Job requirements

Your profile:

  • You have a master’s in law (preferably Employment Law).
  • You have about 4-5 years’ experience in an industrial company or law firm (preferably in the matters of your field of responsibility)
  • You are fluent in Dutch, French & English.
  • You are a structured and organized person, capable to assume responsibilities, to be accountable, to follow up and finalize projects by yourself.
  • You are an excellent communicator; you dispose of writing, convincing and negotiation skills.
  • You are a team player who likes training, but also learning from others, ready to constantly improve and revise actions to ensure the use of best practices always.
  • You are a fast learner, hard worker; you are assertive, proactive, well-organized; you have a critical sense and an analytical mind.
